vulnerable peace of Karachi- 12 May 2007

12 May 2007

This is Islamabad ... Istehkam (Strengthen Pakistan) Rally

tight security arrangements ...
airport, railway station, bus stations welcoming people ...
hundreds of poor people brought from surrounding towns: Taxila, Hasan abdal in promise of 200 ($3) and free food ...
flood lights in the area ...
beating of drums ...
Chief-of-army staff behind bullet proof glass ...
beating of drums ...
more than a grand mela ...

And This is Karachi ...

Chief Justice, Iftikhar Chaudhry restrained at airport for 9 hours and then forced to go back ...
Barricades on roads to not let people welcome him ...
Lawers beaten ...
All shops, business, factories closed ...
Vehicles, petrol pumps, shops set to fire ...
37 people killed on roads ...
115 people injured ...
all international flights suspended ...
Rangers & Police on the streets watching ... silently ...
AajTV attacked, pelted & fired at ...

And Karachi and Islamad are the two cities of the same country with less than two hours of flight time

But yes our government is very caring:
* 'We wont let the terrorists take the law in their hands' Chief Minister Sindh, Arbab Ghulam Raheem

* 'Rs. 300,000 for the family of the person died' Governer Sindh, Ishrat-ul-Ibad
